The story of Pushpa: The Rise (Part 1)

Pushpa Raj (Allu Arjun) is a coolie that dwells in a village in Chittoor area of Andhra Pradesh state. He come from a low status in the family he is illegitimate birth, and he is always despised by the highranking people. Even with all those adversities; Pushpa harbors the desire to climb up the social ladder and gain the worthy recognition. This brings him close to the red sandalwood smuggling syndicate which is in charge of the market in the reasonably rare but highly valuable timber.

Of all the characters in the movie Pushpa, Pushpa Raj entering the world of smuggling became the talk of the town.
This film explores the red sandalwood smuggling in Andhra Pradesh forests and gets involved in this process is Pushpa. His intelligence and intimidating muscles are essential for the smugglers as a result of his rapid fire jokes. Pushpa starts as a carrier of the smugglers and helps to carry the wood. However, intelligence and rebelliousness help him escape all the obstacles, and quickly rise through the ranks.

Conflict with Mangalam Srinu

Mangalam Srinu is a violent and dominating contraband who rules the red sandalwood business in this movie, And he is played by Sunil. Seeing that Pushpa has prominence in the series makes Srinu uncomfortable. There is tension between them when Pushpa asks him his due share on the profit. Srinu, who has played a Judas throughout his life, utterly angered by Avinash and Pushpa’s insurgence, enters the struggle for power.

Love Story with Srivalli

During the course of his smuggling episodes, Pushpa finds love interest in Srivalli who is an innocent village belle and aspiring actress Rashmika Mandanna. Their lovers’ tale toning down the hardness of the story. However, his affair with Pushpa that makes him involves in the illegal trade becomes a barrier in the relationship between them since Srivalli cannot appreciate his way of living.

Pushpa’s Rise to Power

This way Pushpa goes on the opposition with the system and Mangalam Srinu’s dominance. Then, he always understands what the workers wants or needs and how to get what he wants and shows the uncompromising will to get it done which impresses the local villagers as well. Pushpa transforms into a boss with one who is commanded as well as obeyed. He has become ambitious as hell and starts thinking of dominating the red sandalwood business as a whole.

Clash with the Police

The smuggling business comes to the notice of the police especially the bad hearted and authoritative DSP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil). Singham Bhanwar Singh comes to the place to eliminate the syndicate for which he turns highly venomous especially against Pushpa. As with most stories, their confrontation creates the tension of an uprising battle of the minds and authority.

The Climactic Ending

The movie reaches it climax through an interaction between Pushpa and DSP Bhanwar Singh. Towards the end Effzee, Nonsi, Shankar, Kusuma and her team get captured by Pushpa who then gives a powerful message to all those against him. Despite his rise, the threats against him grow, setting the stage for the sequel, Pushpa: The Rule.

Themes and Highlights

In the film there are such motifs as ambition, loyalty and betrayal.

It can be recalled that Pushpa was once a simple laborer who fought his way through to becoming a leader that people learn to fear.

The actors have done a good job especially Allu Arjun, he has a new look, new style of walk, and new way of pronunciations in dialogues.


Pushpa: The Rise (Part 1) ends with expectation from the audience for the next part as they do expect more of action, drama and unexpected turns in Pushpa’s way to the complete power.
